ABOUT THE SPEAKER
James started his career as an early employee of Microsoft Japan and led the subsidiary’s rise to the first bilion dollar revenue subsidiary of a software company in history. After his nearly 15 year corporate career which culminated in a role as CEO of a NASDAQ listed software company, James decided to become an entrepreneur and started RTM Asia.
James today teaches Entrepreneurship at the University of International Business & Economics (UIBE) and is a mentor for Stanford Graduate Business School and Chinaccelerator.
Currently based in Beijing, James has co-founded 3 successful companies in China in the last 5 years. The first, Yodo1, is now the largest private publisher of mobile phone games in China. The second, Yoli, is the innovative new way to learn English or Mandarin all in WeChat; bringing the study anywhere, anytime Uber-style model to language learning. The third, The Belt and Road Advisory (BRA) seeks to educate the world about China's Belt and Road Initiative.
James believes teaching others is the final step in the learning process. Many of his ideas, best practices and advice can be found in his new book "The Tao of Startups": James takes you through the key things you need to get right in the early days of your startup before you turn the next 5+ years of your life and your startup into a stress-laden nightmare.
